A new Blake’s Lotaburger location is scheduled to open north of Española city limits in the fall.
Ground has been broken on the planned Lotaburger location in Ohkay Owingeh. Work began on Monday and the location is expected to open in late October or early November “if everything goes good,” Blake’s Vice President of Development Ross Brown said.
The new Blake’s is being built along State Road 68, adjacent to the Alon gas station and the Ohkay laundromat. The borders of the planned restaurant are currently demarcated by a chain-link fence.
The new Lotaburger will be an Express, which, unlike a standard Blake’s, does not have a dining room where customers can order food face-to-face or sit down to eat. Instead, orders must be placed in the drive-thru or online. There is currently an Express location in Pojoaque.
The Ohkay Blake’s will be the third Express operated by the company. The first was opened in Edgewood in 2023 and the second was opened in Pojoaque later that year.
“Those locations do well for us,” Brown said. “We felt that an Express was right for that (the Ohkay Owingeh) location.”
Planning for the Ohkay Owingeh Blake’s was done in collaboration with the pueblo, he said.
