(SUNfoto by George Morse) The La Laja boat ramp at Heron Lake no longer reaches the water. The water level at Heron has been dropping 1.5 feet per week and was at just 31 percent of capacity at the end of June. The only boat ramp at Heron that remains usable is a primitive ramp at the Ridge Rock area. Heron is the main storage reservoir for water from the San Juan-Chama project.
