Lucero Used to Being out in Front, Alone

(SUNfoto by George Morse) Mesa Vista junior Haliey Lucero has earned all-state honors for three straight years at the Class A-AA state cross country meet. She finished sixth in 2007, fifth in 2008 and seventh last year. This year she has won the Northern Rio Grande and Pecos Invitational meets. Last year, Lucero was the only female runner for the Trojans and started this season as the lone female runner before junior Julia Martinez joined the cross country team two weeks ago.
