Matthew Torres, 82, Ohkay Owingeh, died Thursday Jan. 8, 2009 in Española.
Mr. Torres was a WWII veteran of the United States Navy
He is survived by his sons Matthew, Jr. and Thomas, and his daughter Josephine, all of California, his beloved grandchildren, his brother Frank Torres, Ohkay Owingeh, and sister Mary Ann Padilla of Ohkay Owingeh as well as numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Recitation of the rosary was held Jan. 9 in the Chapel of Block-Salazar Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Jan. 11 at St. John The Baptist Church at Ohkay Owingeh. Interment followed at the community cemetery.
