Museum Should Record Valley History

I am glad to see more people sending their thoughts to the editor of the SUN. Luis Peña, that was a great letter. (No One-Trick Pony, Please, Rio Grande SUN, Nov. 12, page A7)

I would like to give a segunda (as the antepasados would say when they were agreeing with a friend’s statement) to Luis’ comment and to say that I agree with him. I don’t know much about the history of the railroad in Northern New Mexico. What I do know is that the rich history of Española and Northern New Mexico is not given its fair share of attention.

Also the elders of the communities of Northern New Mexico are dying and we are losing valuable knowledge, wisdom and stories of what life was like here during their early days. I hope the City Council rethinks its idea of a Railroad Museum and it incorporates local history and oral traditions as part of this new project.
