(SUNfoto by Nathan J. Comp) Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s Sgt. Marvin Armijo and fellow deputies cited numerous eastbound speeders on Industrial Park Road, March 7 and 8, including officers with the Española Police Department. Armijo said two city officers fell victim to the trap, one who was clocked going 50 mph on the 35-mph road. Sheriff Tommy Rodella said the trap sprung from concerns about the safety of students at Española Middle School, located between the Sheriff’s Office and Española police headquarters.
