My child was injured at school and I was not informed. Therefore I must remind the Espanola School District that the foundation upon which a school principal’s, teacher’s, and most importantly a nurse’s duties are based upon are the trust and
confidence parents expect and rely upon them for our children’s well being while they are at school.
In the context of professional ethics, it is a principal’s, teacher’s and nurse’s duty to inform the parents or guardians of any serious injuries that occur at school at the time of injury. The individuals who assume these positions assume certain duties, the duty to act in the student’s best interest foremost and above all. Such a duty is called a fiduciary duty.
I believe the Española School District, specifically Chimayó Elementary, has failed to protect my child, and has failed me as a parent and a taxpayer, moreover has failed us all. I encourage all parents who have had similar experience with the District to come forward and share their story publicly so together we can hold the District
responsible to uphold its duty to our children.
Lastly I demand that the Española School District place the safety of our children first.
