PATRICK A. MARTINEZ JR., 25, a resident of Chimayo, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 8, 2009. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Tony Garcia; paternal grandfather, Juan Martinez; cousin, Armando Martinez; aunts, Irene and Concha Martinez and uncle, Ruben Martinez. Patrick was a 2002 graduate of Española Valley High School. He loved spending time with his 2 children and had a passion for low riders and car shows. He also loved painting and detailing cars, the outdoors, camping and most of all fishing. Patrick is survived by his children, Jerome and Destiny Martinez both of Española; father, Patrick A. Martinez Sr. and companion Jennifer Lopez of Chimayo; mother, Vicky Martinez and companion Jesus Martha of Hernandez; sister, Daisy Martinez of Chimayo; paternal grandmother, Evangelia Martinez of Chimayo; maternal grandmother, Antonia Garcia of Hernandez; aunts and uncles, Nora Marquez, Ida Baldonado and husband Matt, Rose Martinez and husband Fidel, Leroy Garcia and wife Linda, Isaac Garcia and wife Lucy, Fernando Garcia and wife Brenda, Jane Sandoval and husband George, Irene Romero and husband Lee, Anthony Garcia and Ted Padilla, Anita Espinoza and husband Gerald, Manuel Garcia and wife Elvia and numerous close cousins and other relatives and friends. Public visitation was on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. A second rosary will be recited on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 7:45 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. also at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Burial to follow at the Nuestra Señora de Dolores Catholic Cemetery in Chimayo with the following serving as pallbearers, Eric Trujillo, Isaac Garcia Jr., Juanito Sandoval, Fernando War, Eric Martinez, Lee Romero, Andrew Martinez and David Vigil. Honorary pallbearers named are, Matthew Marquez, Lorenzo Bustos, Gabriel Archuleta and Ben Marcos Sandoval.
