The Peña Relays meet lasted less than two hours.
It was chilly in the morning on April 27 (a surprise to athletes from Española Valley, who showed up wearing shorts), with intermittent clouds.
Then, around 10 a.m., a few snowflakes started falling in Peñasco. A little bit later, it turned into a heavy snow, making it exceedingly difficult to compete. Around 10:30 a.m., coaches met and decided to call off the meet.
The only completed event with full results available was the girls shot put. Briley Boll of Legacy Academy took first place with a throw of 28 feet, 0.5 inches. Camryn Johnson from Mesa Vista was second at 26 feet, 3.5 inches, and teammate Destiny Gonzales was third. Dulce’s Mattie Dale was fourth at 24 feet, 11.5 inches.
