Walter is a 1-year-old sugarcube shepherd-mix powered by joy, zoomies and a whole lot of heart. He lives for people, praise and being wherever the fun is! He’s still a big puppy, so his excitement sometimes pops out as enthusiastic hellos but he’s learning the art of sit, wait and polite greetings with treats and guidance. Walter is going to be an absolute star. He’ll thrive with an active human who’s ready for walks, adventures and helping a young dog grow into his best self. This heckin’ handsome boy is sunshine on legs and jubilee wrapped in fur, a people-loving sidekick who’s eager to learn and always up for the next thing. Tabitha and Walter are both available for adoption at the Española Animal Shelter, 160 Hamm Pkwy., 505-747-4003.
Tabitha is a 7-year-old tortie who survived the hard part and is ready for the soft landing. She came to the Española Animal Shelter injured and out of options, lost her tail to save her life, and healed with quiet grit and grace. Now she’s luminous, lovely and very much herself. She has yellow eyes like a winter moon, a 9 lb. frame and a heart that opens deeply once trust is earned. Affectionate and chatty on her terms, Tabitha loves closeness but she’ll let you know when she’s had enough. The shelter is tough on her nerves; in a calm, patient home, she blooms into something truly tender. Tabitha has excellent litterbox manners and would need slow, thoughtful introductions to other pets. Her missing tail is just a footnote. The rest of her story is waiting to be written with you. Walk-in adoptions are welcome from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday–Saturday.
