Pieda Martinez,
89, of Sheridan, passed away on December 19, 2008, in Sheridan, Wyoming.
Born March 15, 1919, to Tomas and Guadalupe Garcia in Coyote, New Mexico. She attended schools in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Pieda married Benito Martinez on December 15, 1943.
Pieda was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Benito, of Sheridan; daughter, Stella Montano and her husband, Clarence, of Sheridan; sons, Tom Garcia and his wife, Suzy, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, and Tim Garcia and his wife, Yvonne, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; four grandchildren, Amy Montano of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Nicholas Montano of Sheridan, Wyoming, and Tomas and Angelique Garcia of Albuquerque, New Mexico ; sisters, Atocha Gonzales of Espanola, New Mexico, and Adelires Trujillo of Espanola, New Mexico; and brothers, Tomas Garcia of La Sal, Utah and Pete Garcia of Coyote, New Mexico.
A Funeral Memorial Mass will be held at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in San Juan Pueblo, New Mexico, on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 10:30 am with The Reverend Terry Brennan officiating. Interment will be in The Espanola Sacred Heart Church Cemetery in Espanola, New Mexico. Kane Funeral Home handled arrangements held at an earlier time in Wyoming.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made in Pieda’s name to Sheridan Senior Center, Daybreak, 211 Smith St., Sheridan, WY 82801.
