Although the school year is coming to a close, new Pojoaque Valley Athletic Director Sean Jimenez has some business to settle.
First on the plate will be finding a new baseball coach after David Soveranz decided not to return.
Soveranz took over just prior to the 2023 season and compiled a 27-43 record in his three seasons.
In his first season, the Elks went 15-13, including 9-3 in District 2-4A to take second and earn a playoff spot, in which they lost a best-of-three series in two game to St. Pius.
“It was time,” Soveranz said in a text message regarding his decision.
This past season, Pojoaque was 7-19 overall and 3-9 in district. But the program appears to be headed in the right direction as the team only had two seniors.
