The police blotter is published to give readers an abridged look at criminal activity in their community and neighborhood. It is simply an illustration of what local law enforcement, funded by taxpayers, must deal with daily throughout the Española Valley.

False Alarm
Aug. 7
1:31 a.m. A caller reported a possible overdose in the bushes by Wendy’s. One dose of Narcan was administered to the woman.
7:24 a.m. A man waved down an officer near Motel 6 to report his vehicle had been stolen.
8:56 a.m. A caller said her son is going crazy, saying they put a chip in his head and stole his identity.
9:27 a.m. A Vallecitos Post Office caller reported her mail carrier went inside to get the mail and realized the safe was open.
9:52 a.m. A Coyote caller said a man was on the road and a couple was struggling to get him off the road.
10:04 a.m. A welfare check was requested on a man who was passed out in the sun on the porch in front of Pizza Hut.
10:36 a.m. A man and woman were getting aggressive with Walmart employees.
10:52 a.m. A man was throwing glass bottles in the Center Market parking lot.
11:14 a.m. A T-Mobile caller reported a man stole a WiFi hotspot and ran into the field behind McDonald’s.
12:28 p.m. A Hernandez caller said a boy hit his head while playing with his sister and is bleeding.
1:35 p.m. A Hudson Lane and North McCurdy Road caller saw a person enter a house through the window.
3:11 p.m. A man wearing a mask was trying to pry open the doors at the Family Dollar in Chimayó. An employee there called dispatch and said nothing like that was happening.
3:39 p.m. A caller said she has a restraining order against a woman who’s child also goes to the Española Middle School. When the caller saw the woman, she got verbally abusive with her at the school.
4:56 p.m. A caller reported a hit-and-run at Walmart.
6:28 p.m. Two women were smoking something out of a glass pipe at Santa Cruz Country Store.
7:33 p.m. A welfare check was requested on an unconscious woman in a picnic chair near Taco Bell who had a sign that said “help.”
9:07 p.m. A caller reported people are firing a pistol in the area of KFC.
9:20 p.m. A caller said she got threatening voicemails telling her to stop throwing trash.
10:30 p.m. An Alcalde caller reported someone hit her gate. She thinks it’s the neighbors.
10:58 p.m. A Truchas caller said her son is physically fighting with the family and they’re holding him down.
11:19 p.m. A man in the 420 Emporia parking lot was causing problems for customers trying to go in. Employees didn’t know what was going on.

Aug. 8
2:36 a.m. A case of alcohol poisoning was reported on Sixth Street in Chama.
5:47 a.m. A caller said a woman at KFC tried to sell him drugs, then started to hit him with brass knuckles.
5:53 a.m. An Española Hospital nurse reported people are acting up in the emergency room.
8:20 a.m. A caller said there are 10 cars trying to box in one vehicle at the Walmart intersection and “man-handle” it.
8:34 a.m. A Coyote caller reported his firewood has been stolen for a second time this week.
8:38 a.m. A stolen vehicle was recovered at the Champion car wash.
11:23 a.m. A caller said two people were smoking drugs near the Domino’s drive-thru.
2:32 p.m. A caller reported he bought an RV about five years ago but wasn’t provided with a title. Now the lien holders are threatening to get him deported and he wants to know what he can do. He said they also call his child and threaten her.
4:41 p.m. A caller said her boyfriend collapsed near Big 5. Narcan was administered.
5:01 p.m. A Department of Labor caller reported a man was urinating outside and she’s scared and upset because he was trying to get into vehicles. They asked him to leave but he got upset and was knocking on the door.
5:19 p.m. A fight broke out at the Park and Ride.
5:47 p.m. A caller said a homeless man and woman hang out on his back porch at the old Rio Grande SUN building and they always come back. He has dispersed them himself and said the man urinates on the porch.
6:13 p.m. A caller said a construction company at the hospital got parking lot sealant all over a vehicle after it fell off a trailer.
7 p.m. A fight was reported at the baseball field in Chama.
7:36 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a person crawling around on Po Pay Avenue and N.M. Highway 68.
9:38 p.m. An overdose was reported in El Rito. The man refused medical treatment.
10:35 p.m. Another fight was reported at the baseball field in Chama.
10:42 p.m. A woman was arrested for DWI at Calle Rancho Viejo and Calle Bonita.

Aug. 9
1:47 a.m. A caller claimed someone damaged their vehicle at the Ohkay Casino and wanted to speak with an officer.
2:24 a.m. A caller in a vehicle at Lucero Center said a woman keeps harassing him by knocking on the window and she’s getting more aggressive.
8:02 a.m. Someone was blocking the entrance to Wells Fargo Bank and had all their belongings there.
8:29 a.m. A caller wanted to file a report for a generator that was stolen at Chama Days.
10:22 a.m. A caller said someone stole his wife’s credit card information and might be making purchases.
10:29 a.m. A satellite emergency relay operator said he got a call from someone in Abiquiú, saying their dog jumped or fell out of their trailer and needs medical attention.
11:34 a.m. A Fairview Lane caller reported his tenant’s house was broken into.
12:10 p.m. A Chama City Hall caller said she and her boyfriend were harassed by someone against whom they have a restraining order.
1:44 p.m. A caller reported her sister is having a mental episode.
1:56 p.m. An Alcalde caller said the neighbor’s dog bit her daughter on the arm.
4:47 p.m. A man was given a courtesy ride home from Foster’s in Chama.
7:25 p.m. A man at the baseball field in Chama for Chama Days was being disorderly.
7:42 p.m. A caller reported the neighbor threatened to kill her husband and her husband was reaching for a gun from his truck.
8:06 p.m. A man in Chama was slapping his child’s face. The caller didn’t know the address and said it was on the other side of the river.
8:16 p.m. Two guys did a beer run at Ohkay Express Mart.
8:09 p.m. A caller reported a man in a truck heading toward the Chama fairgrounds was hitting a woman in the truck.
10:42 p.m. A Hernandez caller said a woman was outside, hitting a vehicle.
10:43 p.m. Possible alcohol poisoning was reported in Hernandez.
11:38 p.m. A man on Camino de las Animas and North Coronado Avenue was reportedly bleeding from his ear.

9:09 a.m. A man’s death was reported in El Rito.
9:39 a.m. A Starbucks caller said a man at the bus stop is smoking drugs.
10 a.m. A caller reported the neighbor verbally threatened him.
12:05 p.m. A Clyde’s RV caller wanted several people behind the building to be dispersed.
12:51 p.m. A Medanales caller said her granddaughter is drunk and is calling her names and throwing things at her.
1:06 p.m. A caller reported receiving a call from her daughter, who said a man went to her house, claiming to be with a propane company and said she won free propane. He went to the side of her house, then left.
2:20 p.m. A Hernandez caller said her son might be going through alcohol withdrawals.
2:27 p.m. A Hernandez caller reported he was chopping wood when a man against whom he has a restraining order, parked across from his house rolled down his window.
3:09 p.m. A report for assault at Walmart was taken by an EPD officer.
3:20 p.m. A road rage incident was reported in Chimayó.
3:56 p.m. A Dollar General in Hernandez caller said a man in the parking lot is “acting a fool.”
4:32 p.m. A Valdez Park caller reported a man held a bar to his face and made him get out of his vehicle, then drove off.
4:56 p.m. A Walmart caller saw a person push a shopping cart into her vehicle and now there’s a scratch along the driver’s side.
6:35 p.m. A man was arrested after a foot pursuit with an officer at Walmart.
9:05 p.m. An overdose was reported near Starbucks.
9:41 p.m. A man was beat up at a house on Pacheco Lane.
9:57 p.m. An overdose was reported at the Rio Arriba County Detention Center.
11:25 p.m. Two people were fighting in a field on Middle San Pedro Road.
Caught Stealing
Aug. 11
1:44 a.m. A vehicle was stolen from Valdez Park.
7:32 a.m. An overdose was reported on North Railroad Avenue.
7:53 a.m. A Medanales caller said a man with special needs is sitting near the road and they would like a welfare check on him.
8:51 a.m. A vehicle was reported stolen from the Española Hospital.
9:21 a.m. A Terrance Avenue caller requested assistance because a woman locked herself in a hotel room.
9:38 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a woman in a hospital gown, walking around North Coronado Avenue and North Paseo de Oñate.
10:27 a.m. A Lumberton caller requested a civil standby tomorrow for a funeral because there’s a lot of tension in the family, the deceased is being buried on her property and she doesn’t want certain people to be there.
10:34 a.m. A Lowe’s Home Improvement caller reported their co-worker is drunk at work.
10:44 a.m. A Vallecitos caller said he went to check on his house and saw a man stealing from the neighbor.
11:13 a.m. A Walgreens caller reported a lifted truck is parked in a handicap spot. They said it’s too lifted to be a handicap vehicle and wants an officer to check it out.
2:01 p.m. A Hamm Parkway caller said there are dogs in her neighbor’s septic tank and one of them is dead.
2:11 p.m. An overdose was reported in Alcalde.
3:22 p.m. A woman reported her child fell out of a shopping cart at Walmart.
4:02 p.m. A BLM officer found what appeared to be a stolen county vehicle. The vehicle was stripped of the tires and rims.
7:41 p.m. A Saiz Lane caller wanted to speak with an officer about threats she’s been getting.
8:01 p.m. A Velarde Lane caller wanted to speak with an officer about a woman who’s harassing him and a relative over the phone.
8:26 p.m. A Chimayó caller heard gunshots and screaming.
9 p.m. A caller reported juveniles at the basketball court behind the Rock Christian Fellowship building are drinking.
11:53 p.m. A Chimayó caller said the windows and doors were damaged on their camping trailer and mobile home.

1:27 a.m. A deputy stopped to check on a vehicle near the cliff base in Abiquiú.
4:12 a.m. A Walmart caller said a person is throwing trash out of the back dumpsters and is making a mess.
6:48 a.m. A caller reported a man is at her apartment and is calling her a whore and won’t leave.
7:37 a.m. A caller said a man is being verbally abusive.
9:12 a.m. An Española Tire Factory caller reported a man was trying to fight another man.
10:57 a.m. A Greenfield Road caller said their vehicle was burglarized and jewelry was taken.
11:20 a.m. A man stole a bag of concrete from a church on Guachupangue Road.
1:05 p.m. A death was reported on Silver Lane.
1:48 p.m. A man was yelling and throwing rocks at homes in Cook’s Mobile Home Park.
2:19 p.m. A woman was bit by her own dog.
2:40 p.m. A Chimayó caller thinks the neighbor stole his birth certificate and bank paperwork from his mother’s house.
2:53 p.m. A Salas Auto Body caller reported a man went into the business to sell stolen property and is now fighting with the owners.
3:50 p.m. A caller said a car hit a man on a bicycle near KFC.
6:03 p.m. An Española Animal Shelter caller reported her ex is threatening to chase her daughter and has been threatening and harassing them over the phone. He said he will be waiting for their daughter, who is commuting, so he can run her off the road.
8:32 p.m. An Abiquiú caller thinks someone tried to break into her house last night because the door knob appears to be tampered with.
9:17 p.m. A stolen trailer was recovered during a traffic stop.
10:35 p.m. A man was ejected from a vehicle when it rolled in El Rito.

3:27 a.m. A Calle Duran caller woke up to someone trying to break into his house. He was able to scare off the would-be thief.
8:10 a.m. An Española Transit caller said for the third time, people have gone over and caused damage to the electrical boxes while stealing copper wire.
9:30 a.m. A caller wanted homeless people dispersed from an encampment on Jemez View Street and North McCurdy Road.
11:47 a.m. A caller said there are squatters at an apartment on the side of their house on North Riverside Drive.
12:47 p.m. A caller reported a man in a car driving next to her on East Santa Clara Bridge and South Riverside Drive was masturbating.
1:52 p.m. A Gordon Lane caller said two women and a man are smoking some type of drugs.
2:25 p.m. A caller wanted a homeless encampment dispersed from Calle Hacienda and Calle Chamisal.
2:53 p.m. A McDonald’s caller said a man was being aggressive and might be under the influence of something. He was kicking the soda machine.
4:52 p.m. A man was trying to cash a stolen check at the Century Bank drive-thru.
6:56 p.m. A Calle de Pajarito caller said a woman and group of friends is loitering across from her house and staring at her. She thinks they might be getting ready to do something to her because they have history.
6:58 p.m. A caller reported a tractor is destroying her stuff in a field near Windstream.
