The police blotter is published to give readers an abridged look at criminal activity in their community and neighborhood. It is simply an illustration of what local law enforcement, funded by taxpayers, must deal with daily throughout the Española Valley.

public places
July 10
4:02 a.m. At least five homeless people were reportedly sleeping in front of and near Starbucks. A caller wanted them dispersed.
6:37 a.m. A woman who was trespassed from a Velarde Lane home was at that house.
7:23 a.m. A sinkhole was reported in the middle of West Pueblo Street, right before the KDCE radio station.
7:55 a.m. A McDonald’s caller wanted to file a report because a vehicle hit the drive-thru speaker.
8:27 a.m. A man’s death was reported on East Pueblo Street.
10:19 a.m. Five people were panhandling at Pet Sense.
10:30 a.m. An officer conducted a welfare check on a man crawling on the ground near Taco Bell.
12:57 p.m. A DNCU West caller said there’s a fruit stand on the property and they’re not supposed to be there because they don’t have a permit.
1:28 p.m. A State Road 76 in Chimayó caller reported a person is asleep in a sleeping bag in their backyard.
1:58 p.m. A Speedway caller said a man smashed his windshield with a rock.
2:35 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man near the Wendy’s dumpster who had bloodshot eyes and was acting skittish.
2:58 p.m. An El Rito caller said she needed law enforcement because she’s “(expletive) up.” She then said she’s crazy and doesn’t have warrants.
3:15 p.m. A Speedway caller reported a man is still parked there and is threatening to slash their tires. He reversed his vehicle into the caller’s vehicle.
3:23 p.m. A Dixon caller said their gate was vandalized, the chain was cut and the lock was taken.
4:22 p.m. An East Pueblo Street caller reported things around the property were destroyed.
5:15 p.m. A Hoy Recovery caller said a man stole her car battery and wallet.
5:32 p.m. A Rodeway Inn caller reported a man got stuck in a dumpster after dumpster diving.
7:48 p.m. A La Mesilla caller said her boyfriend got drunk and physically assaulted her son who is now bleeding from the face.
Mad about prices
July 11
1:10 a.m. A man was sleeping by the front door of the Convento and a caller wanted him dispersed.
2:45 a.m. A Calle de Pajarito caller reported a child wearing only underwear was walking around by himself.
5:08 a.m. A caller said they got to the N.M. Treatment Center building and noticed the office door appeared to be pried open.
9:17 a.m. A Valley Cleaners caller reported a woman was irate and upset about the prices.
11:34 a.m. A CVS caller said three men are climbing into the dumpster and they’re not supposed to be there.
1:36 a.m. A caller reported an Española traveling nurse may have stolen $400-500 worth of fabric from their house. They also said the nurse wrote a bad check for rent.
2:10 p.m. A caller said he’s on Abiquiú Lake and his boat is not working; he needs help getting off the lake.
2:19 p.m. A Fresh Budz caller reported a man is passed out in the driver’s seat of a truck and another man is trying to wake him.
3:13 p.m. A Villa del Norte Apartments caller thinks her neighbor is selling drugs.
3:40 p.m. An Ohkay Owingeh caller reported that two dogs attacked him and his friend.
4:32 p.m. A JoJi’s caller said four people are setting up camps and he wants them trespassed and removed.
4:39 p.m. A woman went to EPD to report that someone tried to steal her catalytic converter.
5:49 p.m. A Velarde caller said an employee is sending them messages and saying he’s going to sabotage the business.
5:54 p.m. A caller reported a vehicle with a government plate is parked in a handicap spot at Center Market.
6:32 p.m. A Dollar General in Alcalde caller said a person in the parking lot might be selling drugs. A deputy called an ambulance because a man swallowed what may have been drugs.
7:09 p.m. A North Riverside Drive caller reported a man on a bicycle wearing “funky-looking” shorts asked their daughter for a shirt because the police were looking for him.
7:22 p.m. A Lowe’s Chama Valley Supermarket caller said a woman was refusing to leave the store and was throwing herself on the ground.
7:52 p.m. A La Joya Street caller reported a jogger was attacked by a homeless person.
8:05 p.m. A Medanales caller said her stepfather pointed a gun at her and her mother.
8:31 p.m. A vehicle was stopped near Lotaburger after the driver was told not to drive through the barricade.
9:20 p.m. A Walmart caller said a man ran out with $100 in merchandise and left a backpack behind with drugs and paraphernalia. The caller wants an officer to pick it up.
10:37 p.m. A fire was reported on County Road 92 in Chimayó. One person suffered burns and two people suffered smoke inhalation.
10:41 p.m. A Taco Bell caller said two homeless people were harassing customers and employees and another person joined them in the harassment.
Fire bugs
July 12
3:38 a.m. A caller reported two men were fighting in the street on Ziegler Street and one pulled out a handgun.
4:01 a.m. A Lowe’s Home Improvement caller said two men were fighting by Pet Sense and one fired a gun at the ground.
6:35 a.m. A caller reported a man was acting weird yesterday and today, he was beating her up, kicking and punching her. The caller thinks the man is smoking blues.
10:07 a.m. A Chama caller said she’s getting harassing texts and phone calls.
10:45 a.m. A woman’s death was reported in Velarde.
10:50 a.m. A Serrano’s Hair Design caller reported the business was broken into and property was destroyed.
10:53 a.m. A Camino del Sol caller said people broke into a vacant house on the lot and into their house, too.
1:04 p.m. A Tortas Rainbow caller saw someone hit her vehicle and when she asked them for their insurance, they fled and said the driver didn’t have a license.
2:46 p.m. A Bubble Zone caller said there are 10 to 12 homeless people behind the building and they use the restroom outside, too.
3:21 p.m. A Megill Street caller reported a suspected drug deal was made and there are now people doing “whatever drugs they bought” in their driveway.
5:47 p.m. A Coyote caller said his son got drunk and cut his hand and is now causing a scene, is yelling and is quite upset.
6:17 p.m. A man in a truck in Abiquiú was reported unconscious.
8:22 p.m. A caller said their son-in-law is driving around the soup kitchen on West Jonathan Drive, has a gun and said he was going to use it.
8:56 p.m. A North Riverside Drive caller reported a woman walked behind a building he owns and had sticks to make a fire.
9:08 p.m. Close patrols were requested near Garcia Tires because several fires were set in the area, along the road in the northbound lane.
9:57 p.m. A Chimayó caller wanted her brother removed because he was pacing back and forth in her driveway for an hour.

July 13
12:44 a.m. A Fairview Sonic caller said a man in a truck showed up with a rifle and he’s next to their vehicle.
1:06 a.m. An Española Hospital caller said a man was discharged but refusing to leave. The man was resisting arrest and officers were unable to control him. He rolled off the bed and cracked his head, requiring stitches.
1:16 a.m. A man was causing a disturbance in the 420 Emporia parking lot.
1:17 a.m. The same man causing a disturbance at 420 Emporia also made a mess in Allsups.
3:38 a.m. An overdose was reported in Velarde.
6:38 a.m. A Hernandez caller heard screaming from the arroyo.
7:41 a.m. A Calle Chacoma Vista caller said their flatbed trailer, a washer and dryer were stolen from their house.
9:38 a.m. An Española Valley Church of Christ caller reported their back and front door cameras were stolen.
12:53 p.m. A Calle Quintana caller said a white van has been passing by since 9 a.m.
2:12 p.m. A caller reported a man is passed out in a vehicle near JoJi’s. A second caller tried to approach the vehicle and the man pulled out a handgun.
3:16 p.m. A Calle del Sol caller reported his grandma is “losing her mind” and threatened to hurt him. He wants her removed and said she needs to go to a home.
3:32 p.m. A JoJi’s caller said homeless people set up camp by the dumpster and he wants them removed.
3:50 p.m. A man reported receiving a call from a man claiming to have kidnapped his daughter. However, his daughter was safe next door.
4:14 p.m. A caller said she got into an argument with her son and he pushed her to the ground. A bystander told him he shouldn’t treat anyone like that and another bystander pulled a gun, which resulted in that person and the son pointing guns at each other.
4:40 p.m. A caller reported multiple people are going to jump an old man on Calle Redonda and El Llano Road.
5:47 p.m. A North Riverside Drive caller said her boyfriend is drunk and driving a truck.
6:09 p.m. A Calle de Pajarito caller reported she was harassed earlier in the day by a woman.
6:37 p.m. A motorcycle ran a red light and hit a truck at the South Riverside Drive and Upper San Pedro Road intersection.
7:12 p.m. A Chama caller reported the neighbor is throwing rocks at them.
8:38 p.m. A Chimayó caller said someone on a dirt bike just went to her house and stole her poly cart.
9:29 p.m. A Valdez Park caller reported a man in a car is chasing them.
9:32 p.m. A U.S. Highway 64/84 caller said three or four men are walking around wearing night vision goggles.
11:01 p.m. A Velarde caller reported the landlord’s house was broken into and jewelry and other items were taken.
Don’t pay the window washer
July 14
Midnight A caller said several people are trying to wake a man who’s lying on the ground near El Rey Liquors.
12:20 a.m. A State Road 76 caller reported someone is playing music so loud that the walls are shaking.
2:06 a.m. A man was threatening staff at the Española Hospital and trying to hit them.
10:07 a.m. An officer picked up two needles at Tortilla Flats and Po Pay Avenue.
10:16 a.m. A North McCurdy Road caller said last night, people went over and took all their cameras and tried to open the gun safe. They cut a hole in the fence.
10:58 a.m. A West Roman Drive caller wanted to file a report because they hired a man to do yard work and he went into their house and stole money.
11:13 a.m. A Walgreens caller said the window washer is back on their property. They said customers are paying the person to wash their windows, even though there are signs advising them not to.
2:02 p.m. A deputy went to Gallina to take a report for cows being killed.
2:33 p.m. A Velarde caller said he wants to kill his mother and sister. He said his mother is using him for money and his sister broke his fan and won’t pay for it.
2:48 p.m. An officer was flagged down at North Riverside Drive and Fairview Lane for a possible road rage incident.
3:45 p.m. A man was screaming and refusing to get off the bus at the Park and Ride stop on South Paseo de Oñate.
5:57 p.m. A caller said there was a box of antler sheds under a yellow tent near the Española Tire Factory and wanted an officer to check it out.
7 p.m. A caller reported a woman broke into the Habitat for Humanity building and was filling a bag with items.
7:03 p.m. A Calle Las Tunas caller said a man went by and threatened to shoot her son’s dog.
9:58 p.m. An overdose was reported on East Jiron Street.
10:24 p.m. A Sandy Lane caller said she went to the hospital with her father and when she returned, the locks had been changed.
11:46 p.m. People fled the Ohkay Casino after stealing items from the café area.
‘Prostituting’ in Pajarito
July 15
8:29 a.m. A Hernandez caller said she woke up to find a large Rottweiler and a Pitbull locked in her yard and doesn’t know how they got there. She is scared to go outside.
9:15 a.m. A Cañones caller reported a man keeps dumping puppies in the area.
9:41 a.m. A homeless man’s death was reported on State Road 76.
1:46 p.m. A man threatened to stab Walmart security as they were escorting him out.
1:51 p.m. A moving truck knocked down some electrical lines on Sunset Drive.
2:35 p.m. A Dixon caller said the neighbor’s tenant pushed her as she was trying to leave keys for the neighbor.
2:36 p.m. A North McCurdy Road caller reported being harassed on social media.
3:47 p.m. The man who threatened Walmart security earlier in the day returned to the store and was under the influence.
5 p.m. A Calle de Pajarito caller said a woman in all-black might be “prostituting” and on drugs.
5:52 p.m. A Speedway caller reported a drunk man was outside, barely walking and trying to get people to give him a ride.
7:10 p.m. A Medanales caller said a drunk man was pushing her and tried to hit her.
7:16 p.m. A Cook’s Mobile Home Park caller reported a truck was driving at high speeds with children in the bed.
7:25 p.m. A Chimayó caller said her two sons are fighting outside. She called back and said her sons left and she feels safe.
7:39 p.m. A woman was causing problems and refusing to be discharged from Darren’s Place.
7:50 p.m. A Calle Josefita caller reported a man recently released from jail is at a house threatening a man.
8:55 p.m. An El Rito caller said someone stole a bike trailer from a property she takes care of.
9:37 p.m. A Point S caller reported someone is crawling on the road by the Tire Factory.
9:42 p.m. A man with a broom and window cleaner was inside CVS and refusing to leave.
10:45 p.m. A caller saw a man walking around with spray paint and a flashlight near La Pharmacia and thought he might be tagging.
11:08 p.m. A Hernandez caller said a man was arguing with a woman at a party and the man was punched but won’t leave until police get there.
11:42 p.m. A manager was locked inside the Dreamcatcher Theater and could hear a lot of banging. He said no one was supposed to be there.
11:44 p.m. A caller said she left her brother’s house in Chamita and it smells like there’s something dead in there. She also said the dog is dead in the yard.
Caught stealing
July 16
2:08 a.m. A man was run over in Medanales and was barely breathing.
2:52 a.m. A caller said a bunch of young people were near Pet Sense and looked like they were about to fight.
6:44 a.m. A Las Vegas Street caller reported a pack of stray dogs killed his goats then fled toward La Joya Street.
7:01 a.m. A man was walking around Starbucks employees’ vehicles and looking into them.
8:17 a.m. A caller saw a man grabbing a woman by the arm. When she started running, he chased her into a house on North Calle Senaida.
9:40 a.m. A Dollar General in Hernandez caller found several credit cards with different names and wants to turn them over to law enforcement.
9:58 a.m. A transformer was broken into and the power was cut near Del Taco.
2:27 p.m. A La Loma Lane caller said there’s a truck with trash in the back of it and the driver is either having sex with someone or beating someone up.
4:02 p.m. A caller reported a vehicle hit a pole near the McCurdy baseball fields and the driver is overdosing. Two doses or Narcan were administered.
4:19 p.m. A mobile home fire was reported on Corona Drive.
4:22 p.m. An El Rito caller said someone broke into his house and broke his double doors.
6:16 p.m. A Walmart employee was caught stealing.
7:01 p.m. A man and an infant were on an ATV and traveling about 30 mph in Brazos.
7:07 p.m. Two men and a woman were fighting at the roundabout at Cook’s Mobile Home Park.
8:02 p.m. A La Mesilla caller found mail dumped in his front yard and wants to know what to do with it.
8:38 p.m. A Velarde caller said the neighbor is unstable and in other neighbor’s yards, yelling and threatening them.
8:55 p.m. A caller reported being parked at a doctor’s office on Los Alamos Highway, when a homeless man went up and beat him for no reason.
10:32 p.m. A Hernandez caller said their vehicle broke down and the tow truck driver won’t give the passengers of the vehicle a ride.
