(SUNfoto by Bill Rodgers) Española Police conducted a DWI checkpoint on North Riverside Drive near the Española KFC the afternoon of Feb. 13. The roadblock, in place from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. stopped 4,042 vehicles, but caught no drunk drivers, according to Public Safety Chief Leo Montoya. Montoya said he thought people who saw the roadblock started telling other people, who avoided it.
