(SUNfoto by Bill Rodgers) Emergency vehicles block State Road 68 south of Embudo Station Jan. 4. A semi truck reportedly ran off the road, through a guardrail and crashed onto an embankment. Emergency crews contacted a company to pump diesel from the truck’s tank, reporting that about 100 gallons of fuel leaked from the truck. A hazardous materials team was called to the scene and a Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s deputy remained by the truck that night until it could be removed the following day. County Emergency Manager Mateo DeVargas said no fluids leaked into the Rio Grande and crews also removed some batteries the truck had been carrying.
