(SUNfoto by Lou Mattei) A black Kia sport utility vehicle (right) driven by Michael Cobebe collided head-on April 12 with a maroon passenger car (left) driven by Tracy Thomas, who fractured her leg in the crash. Española Police officer Solomon Romero said the gas pedal in Cobebe's car fell off while he was driving east on the Fairview Bridge, helping cause the crash. A second accident around the same time about a quarter mile to the west near the intersection of Fairview Lane and Railroad Avenue had most of the stretch of Fairview between Riverside Drive and Paseo de Oñate shut down between 5 and 6 p.m. that evening.
