Felice Baca, Escalante Track and Field
Baca led Escalante at the Fort Sumner track meet after a long bus ride, and came out strong. She finished fifth in the 100 meters and second in the 400 meters, as well as leading the team to second place in the 4×400 relay.
Ernesto Cardenas, Pojoaque Valley Baseball
The Elks have won two of their last three games, and strong pitching by their senior has been a big reason why. Cardenas played well throughout the weekend, including a 4-3 win over Moriarty, and he had strong pitching in a win over Española on Wednesday.
Jennifer Gallegos, Española Valley Tennis
The senior leader’s perfect week led Española to a first-place finish in district pool play. Gallegos won three matches at the two singles position all in straight sets, and her doubles team with Olivia Suazo cruised through the weekend.
