The senior Sundevil quarterback, starting due to an injury, nearly led the Sundevils to a remarkable comeback victory. He finished the day with 142 rushing yards and two scores on the ground, and added a two-point conversion to help Española get to a one-score game.
Mercedes Gonzales, Española Volleyball
Española’s senior hitter led the way in their season-opening five-set win. Gonzales logged 18 digs and 14 kills, including a big smash to finish off the match.

The junior passer showed off his arm with multiple scores in a big win against Hozho Academy to set the tone for the season. McCurdy finished the day with a 52-6 win over the Wolves.
