Española’s senior leader continued a strong season with a regional championship the individual tournament in Kirtland Central at 152 pounds covering half the state. He won four matches, and in the final beat Adrian Rivera from Robertson, a defending state champion, and avenged a loss against him in the district final a week earlier.

The Lady Lobos picked up a huge win defeating Mesa Vista, despite missing starters, on a game-winning free throw by team leader Martinez. The senior center scored a team-high 14 points, and a huge 12 rebounds, bringing Escalante their sixth-straight win.
Ryan Montoya, McCurdy Boys Basketball
The Bobcats are surging, now having won seven of their last eight games and firmly establishing themselves as district contenders. While it has been a team effort, Montoya is the one who stepped up this past week, with a 23-point performance against Peñasco that included six 3-pointers and an extremely efficient shooting pace.
