Alyssa Atencio, Peñasco Girls Basketball
Chants of “M-V-P!” rang from the student section every time Atencio touched the ball at the end of the championship game, and when her name was announced. Atencio, often overshadowed by her teammates, stepped up to make big plays in clutch moments. She finished the final with 10 points and a team-high +13 in her time on the court.
Rochelle Lopez, Peñasco Girls Basketball
Lopez had her moments all week long, including a team-high 18 points in the championship. But her biggest shots came in the semifinal. One that sent the game to overtime, a deep 3-pointer that tied the game to force double overtime, and a pair of game-winning free throws at the very end.
Analise MacAuley, Peñasco Girls Basketball
The Northern New Mexico College commit was instrumental in getting the team to the final. In last week’s quarterfinal win, MacAuley had nine rebounds and 16 points, including 8-of-9 free-throw shooting. And in the semifinal, she had 13 rebounds and 15 points, both team highs.
