Kenny Gallegos, Mesa Vista Track

Gallegos scored an impressive district championship in the 800 meter race, beating strong competitors and teammates, and winning by over four seconds. He also won first as part of the 4×200, and finished fourth in the long jump.

Ian Gaytan, Española Valley Tennis

The senior leader of the tennis team made the most of his draw in the district tournament, and advanced to the state tournament with an impressive third-place finish in the individual tournament. Gaytan won three of his four matches, winning in straight sets over a Los Alamos competitor.

Avery Knight, McCurdy Track

McCurdy’s freshman runner finished second in a strong 1600 meters, coming up just short at the finish line. But she ran extremely well in 800-meter legs in both the 4×800 and the medley relay, coming from behind to give McCurdy a lead as they won both races.

Marisa Martinez, Pojoaque Valley Softball

The Elkettes finished their season, and Martinez’s strong career, with a 6-game winning streak. Over the last week, Martinez pitched 14.1 innings, was the winning pitcher twice and recorded two saves. At the plate, she went 7-for-13 with three doubles and scored 10 runs.
