I am writing this letter in hopes that we slow or eliminate these students from dropping out of school.
The Española High School principle (Bruce Hopmeier) is one of the main reasons why the dropout rate is so high. Examples of his behavior are talking down to people in his school, both staff and students.
He is a typical male who thinks he walks on everyone around him. Instead of helping, he would rather put you down than offer suggestions on how to make it better. I witnessed a comment he made talking about security guards. He said if they could not guard then that guard needs to go find another job. He only talks to the female guards this way.
I feel Hopmeier has had his opportunity to ruin children’s lives and Española needs him to change his job.
The high school has failed in many ways. He must leave. He can’t do his job so he should resign his position so we can hire a more capable person to complete the task at hand.
