Rainfall Brings Unusual Water Levels

(SUNfoto by George Morse) The water was flowing over the spillway Aug. 7 at the Santa Cruz Dam above Chimayó. Recent rainfall has raised the water level of Santa Cruz Lake to heights seldom seen this time of year. There is water available to downstream irrigators seven days a week, rather than the usual three, and there is plenty of water to finish off the irrigation season.
