Ramona M. Martinez,
76, a resident of El Guique formerly of La Villita passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose E. and Sinforosa Montoya; 1st husband, Nick J. Trujillo; brother, Evedardo Montoya; in-laws, Manuel and Asencion Martinez. Ramona is survived by her husband of 37 years, Ruben Martinez of El Guique; children, Alfred Trujillo of La Villita, Geneva Garcia and husband Julian of El Guique, Gloria Naranjo and husband Pastor Michael of Guachupangue; Ruby Valdez and husband Benicio of La Villita, Bernice Chavez and husband Wilfred and Tina Borrego and husband Michael, all of El Guique; Raised like a daughter, Arlene Garcia and companion Adrian Chacon of El Guique; sister, Helen Maestas of Espanola; 27 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; Ramona was a very active member of her community and church. She was considered a “grandma” as she gave generously of her time, extending her love loving to the many nephews, nieces and relatives from Colorado and surrounding areas in New Mexico; and was a positive influence to all the many people she interacted with throughout her life. Public visitation was Monday, February 9, 2009 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A devotional service was held on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at 11:00 a.m., all services were held at the Rock Christian Fellowship, burial followed at Loma Vista Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Walter Trujillo, Julian Garcia Jr., Jeffrey Naranjo, Juanito Valdez, Wilfred Chavez Jr. and Miguel Borrego. Honorary pallbearers are all remaining grandchildren. The family of Ramona M. Martinez has placed their trust in DeVargas Funeral Home of the Espanola Valley.
