Santa Cruz Dam to Get Juiced Up

The electrical panels against the wall are part of an archaic system that controls the gate valve, driven by the blue pump. The Santa Cruz Irrigation District plans to spend more than $112,000 to upgrade the electric from single-phase to three-phase so they can better and more easily control the valve. Poles and lines leading to the base of the dam must also be replaced to carry the heavier lines.
