Sarah Cordova, 64, Truchas, died Saturday, May 2, 2009 at UNM Hospital.
Mrs. Cordova worked at Furrs cafeteria in Santa Fe for over 20 years and most recently in the bakery at Wal-Mart. She owned and operated Cordova’s Tiendita in Truchas and did home health care. She was a great cook, baker and an organizer.
She was preceded death by her son Danny, her husband Eluid and grandmother Leonardita Barela.
Mrs. Cordova is survived by her sons Rayben Sandoval, Truchas; Louie Sandoval, Sombrillo and Dino Fernandez, Truchas; mother, Fidencia Cordova, Truchas and father Benedito Cordova, Albuquerque; nine grandchildren and a great grandson; brothers Sammy Cordova, Medardo Cordova, Bobby Cordova, all of Truchas, Rosendo Cordova, Chimayo; sisters Cecilia Gonzales, Hayward, Calif.; Kathy Romero, Leadville, Colo., Susan Abeyta, Santa Cruz and Carol McNeil, Los Alamos.
A devotional service was held May 4 at the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. A funeral service was held May 5 at the Valley Bible Baptist Church in Arroyo Seco. Burial followed at the Llanitos Cemetery in Truchas with the following serving as pallbearers, Sammy Cordova, Ross Cordova, Medardo Cordova, Bobby Cordova and Rayben and Ryan Sandoval. Honorary pallbearers are Ray Martinez, Walter Sandoval, Danny Fernandez, Sam Gonzales, Caleb Sandoval, Phillip Varoz, Luis Lujan and all her co-workers at Wal-Mart.
