I wish to make it clear the Española School District does not need defending. I am writing this letter because I often read and hear negative comments about the school District.
I want to make newspaper readers and others aware the Española School District has produced an innumerable amount of successful students.
The majority of these students have gone to college and have good respectable careers. Others have opened their own businesses, while others have a career in politics. Regardless of their profession or vocation, all are successful and live good lives.
My wife and I both graduated from Española High School in 1972 and 1970. This was when we were called the Española Hornets. I cannot forget the other two excellent schools that I attended and were part of the Española School District before they closed. They were John F. Kennedy Junior High School and Santa Cruz High School.
I hold the Española School District in high esteem and I appreciate all involved for helping me go on to college to get a master’s degree.
Also, most recently my four children graduated from Española Valley High School in 1991, 1994, 1997 and 2006. The three older ones have master’s degrees from University of New Mexico and the youngest is a senior also at UNM.
I want to wish all Española School District students, employees, parents and School Board Members a blessed school year.
