A fatal shooting occurred Monday on a North Central Regional Transit District bus that runs to Taos.
The Taos County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting that happened on Chili Line bus route 340, according to a press release from the NCRTD. Two people fired handguns through the window of the bus that was stopped at the Ranchos de Taos Post Office bus stop, killing one person on board.
“At the time of the incident, there were two other passengers on board in addition to the driver,” the press release said. “Neither the driver nor the other passengers were injured.”
The NCRTD is fully cooperating with the Taos County Sheriff’s Office investigation. Taos County Sheriff Steve Miera did not respond to an inquiry about the incident. The shooting victim was not identified as of press time. No further information regarding the victim’s identity or the incident was available.
