Española Valley point guard Olivia Martinez has signed a letter of intent to play basketball next season at Division III St. John Fisher University in Rochester, New York.
Martinez was one of the Sundevils’ team leaders last season, averaging 4.0 points per game with 3.7 rebounds, team-best 2.6 assists and 2.0 steals. She also led the team in deflections.
“She was our defensive stopper,” Española coach Ray Romero said. “We used Olivia to slow down or shut down opponents’ best offensive players. She’s a great one-on-one defender.”
