Steven A. Bird
– Age 24 a resident of Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo, passed away Friday, March 13, 2009 following injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Jose “Sabie” Bird; step-grandfather, Leonard Whitehouse; paternal grandfather, John Bird Jr.; great grandmother, Josephine Cata; great-great grandmother, Regina Cata; and 1st cousin, Regina Grace Herrera. Steven loved to eat and loved hunting and fishing. He loved to lift weights, he always had bright ideas for inventions. He was dedicated and loving to his family and friends. He is survived by his 3 daughters: Taliyah Sarah Bird of Cuarteles, Stevie Hwa Bird and Imani Pearl Bird of Albuquerque; parents: Stanley and Hwa Bird of Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo; sister and brothers: Julie H. Bird of Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo, Stanley A. Bird Jr. of Albuquerque, Shaun A. Bird and Samuel A. Bird both of Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo; paternal grandmother, Consuelo Whitehouse of Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo; maternal grandmother, Aggie E. Ha of South Korea; uncles and aunts: John Bird III and wife Juanita of El Llano, Minnie Bird and companion Jake Montoya, Deborah Herrera, Jose E. Herrera and wife Carla all of Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo, Lenora Harris and husband Bill of Albuquerque and Vivian “Spooky” Bird and Bryanna Bird all of Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo; and numerous loving cousins, and relatives and friends. Public visitation was on Sunday, March 15, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home. With a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. A second rosary was recited on Monday, March 16, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the Family Residence in Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo. Interment followed at the Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Allen Bird, John Bird IV, Aaron Losey, Julian Herrera, Tyson Toya and Sam Garcia. Serving as honorary pallbearer was: Cyrus Martinez. The family of Steven A.
