Sundevils Seek New Girls Basketball Coach

(SUN Filefoto) Española Valley girls basketball coach Oliver Torres talks to his team last year after a jamboree at Pojoaque Valley. Torres had just been hired as coach and now he may be out of a job despite leading the Lady Sundevils to a 24-6 record and their fifth straight District 2AAAA title. His position was opened for applications July 2 and he can reapply. Torres said he intends to do so and fight to keep his job. Española School District Superintendent Danny Trujillo and recently hired Athletic Coordinator Eric Vigil declined to comment on why they opened the position, calling it a personnel matter.
