There is a proposal underway to create a multi-service homeless shelter for 20 adults in Española. Homeless means to be without a home and presumably living on the streets. Caring for those less fortunate is in the least a basic human value if not one of the highest of Christian principals.
At the site of the proposed shelter someone has placed a sign, which reads, “NO! TO DRUG ADDICT SHELTER HERE,” revealing much about that person’s character and basic human values.
With regard to their obvious confusion when communicating in the English language, “drug addict” and “homeless” are clearly not interchangeable terms.
