I am responding to the “Not So Fast: New Clerk To Keep 10-Year Vet as Deputy,” article from the Jan. 8 issue. I feel that Moises Morales is making a wise decision with keeping Fred Vigil, former County clerk, on staff. In my personal opinion Fred and Moises are the only honest men in county government. I was a former La Raza Unida member, when some of the current politico’s were lurking in the shadows waiting for the opportunity to cash in on our efforts. La Raza members were marching in the streets, protesting and holding rallies in support of justifiable causes. I agree with Richard Rosenstock in his most recent letter to the editor that Moises and Fred may not be perfect but they are the best Rio Arriba County has to offer.
