This bowl about 100 yards off County Road 57 is all that remains of the late Richard Cook’s El Guique gravel mine. Sheriff’s deputies are alleged to use the area for target practice upsetting neighbors. The mine is roughly 200 yards by 300 yards and sits adjacent to a silt control dam. The property is now controled by Cook’s daughter Katherine Cook Fishman.
