73, Española died Friday, Dec. 26, 2008.
He was preceded in death by his father, Celso Vigil; mother, Emilia Archuleta-Vigil; son, Gilbert Vigil; brother, Joe Vigil; and step-son, Johnny Martinez.
He is survived by wife, Ida Vigil, Española; step-sons: Anthony Martinez, Farmington, Joseph Martinez, Española, Gerald Martinez, and James Martinez, both from Alamosa, CO, David Martinez, Española, and Chris Martinez, Chimayo; brothers and sisters: Celso Vigil, Denver, CO, Ben Vigil, Meliton Vigil and Candido Vigil all of Farmington, Cecilia Vigil and Cordy Candelaria both of Denver, CO, Joann Vigil, Boulder, CO and Louisa Sanderson, California; children: Ramos Vigil, Farmington, Velma Martinez, Farmington, Maryann Martinez, Grand Junction, CO, Jeanette Vigil, Farmington, and Graciola Vigil, Grand Junction, CO; special grandson who he helped raise, Derek Martinez, Española; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Cremation is being planned. A rosary will be recited on Jan. 3, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Capulin Catholic Church in Capulin, CO. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Jan. 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Capulin Catholic Church in Capulin, CO. Burial will follow at the La Jara Cemetery in La Jara Colorado.
