Regarding the article “Hunting Fee Increase Flows into Bank Coffers,” (Rio Grande SUN, May 28, 2009, page B1) the application fee increases are caused not by the Game and Fish Department requiring all applicants to submit the full license fee when they apply, but rather because 80 percent of applicants charge their payment to their credit cards instead of paying by check. Buying with credit always costs more than paying with cash, and of course the big banks are the ones that benefit.
