The police blotter is published to give readers an abridged look at criminal activity in their community and neighborhood. It is simply an illustration of what local law enforcement, funded by taxpayers, must deal with daily throughout the Española Valley.

Employees Gone Wild
May 7
7:33 a.m. An Abiquiú caller said his cousin is drunk, yelling and naked and throwing random things behind the library.
8:22 a.m. An Española Transit Mix caller reported the unhoused people took about 40 feet of fence and he wants to file a report.
10:33 a.m. An Española Pathways caller wanted a woman to be trespassed because she’s a danger to herself.
12:05 p.m. A Goodwill caller said a drunk woman was outside and requested an ambulance.
12:47 p.m. A caller reported an auto theft in progress. They said the vehicle was stolen from the Family Dollar.
1:59 p.m. An Española Transit Mix caller said an employee got into a physical fight with another employee.
3:54 p.m. A man went to the Española Police Department to file a report for fraud.
3:54 p.m. A Hamm Parkway caller found a medical bag that was left behind by medics who were at his house earlier.
4:10 p.m. A man who was trespassed from Villa del Norte Apartments went into an apartment.
4:18 p.m. A Hacienda Home Center manager said he locked himself in an office after an employee pushed him; the employee is still there and is trying to fight other people in the store.
6:14 p.m. An officer was out with a man who was stealing items from vehicles near Wendy’s.
7:23 p.m. A West Pueblo Street caller said people are leaving trash and backpacks in her back yard.
7:33 p.m. A caller reported receiving a phone call in which a person claimed to be a police officer and began yelling at her and her mother, saying they needed to pick up some money.
8:37 p.m. An Abiquiú caller said her son is outside yelling because he wants her to give him water and other stuff.
8:47 p.m. A car fled from an attempted traffic stop on South McCurdy Road and State Road 76.
10:09 p.m. A caller said a woman he’s been seeing took him to her house in Chimayó, then threatened to have people with guns go over.
Woke Up in the ER
May 8
12:10 a.m. A caller reported a car drove off the road near the Truchas Overlook.
7:18 a.m. A Rodeway Inn caller said a car was parked in the back parking lot and there was a blanket over an open door and a wagon next to it.
11:53 a.m. A caller reported an elderly man ramped the curb at North Riverside Drive and Fairview Lane and the tire popped off his vehicle.
11:56 a.m. A Truchas caller heard three gunshots as she was walking her dog on Forest Road 155.
2:16 p.m. A man went to EPD to file a report for a lost gun.
3:19 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man who was sleeping in the dugout at Ranchitos Park.
5:06 p.m. A caller reported a 4- or 5-year-old child was running after a car and the people inside it were not letting the child back in. The responding deputy made contact with the vehicle’s owner who said it was a form of punishment, not child abuse.
6:29 p.m. A Loma Alto caller said someone broke into her storage unit and stole clothes, boxes of furniture and toys.
6:44 p.m. A Velarde caller reported her boyfriend is hitting the house and took a shotgun apart outside and was telling the neighbors he wants her out of the house.
7:09 p.m. A Calle Jose Pablo caller wanted help getting his daughter’s medication from the girl’s mother. He said the mother had a life-changing operation performed on the girl without his knowledge and he doesn’t want to talk to or have contact with the woman.
7:21 p.m. A caller reported a pickup truck driver pointed a gun at another driver in Alcalde.
8:30 p.m. A Hernandez caller saw a car drive off the road and into a ditch.
8:46 p.m. A Velarde caller said he was arrested in his yard and locked out of his house. He called four times and said $25,000 was taken from his safe and began yelling that’s more important than someone dying. He was told that if he keeps calling, he’ll be charged with misuse of 911.
8:52 p.m. A San Pedro Sonic caller reported a drunk man was taking photos of children at employees.
9:06 p.m. A Hernandez caller got home to find the tires on both of her trucks slashed.
9:16 pm. A caller reported that her baby daddy pulled a gun and pointed it at her boyfriend.
10:25 p.m. A caller said his girlfriend hit him in the chest and he woke up in the emergency room.
11:29 p.m. A Medanales caller reported her father is outside with a gun.
Lights on the Mesa
May 9
1:09 a.m. A Club Tropicana caller said a man threw a rock through a window and fled in a Jeep.
2:17 a.m. A stolen car was recovered after it crashed on East Shadowood Lane and El Llano Road and the driver fled on foot.
3:45 a.m. A Hernandez caller said her car was on fire.
8:42 a.m. A Fairview Lane caller reported power lines fell on her vehicle and her children are in the car and the lines are arcing.
9:15 a.m. An Ohkay Owingeh caller heard 12 gunshots.
12:51 p.m. A Po Pay Avenue caller said her daughter got out of treatment two weeks ago and is out of control.
12:59 p.m. An Allsups caller reported a lady tried to pepper-spray him and his friend after he went into the store to get a chimichanga.
2:01 p.m. A grass fire was reported in Vallecitos.
2:17 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man passed out behind Pizza Emergency.
2:30 p.m. A caller said a man was down at State Road 76 and Santo Niño Lane. One dose of Narcan was administered.
3:38 p.m. A Truchas caller reported her house was on fire.
3:58 p.m. A man was kicked in the head while branding cattle.
4:13 p.m. A Hernandez caller said a man and woman are waiting in the ditch for them to leave so they can break into their house.
5:45 p.m. A Community School Road caller reported finding someone lying on her couch when she got home. A female was heard in the background saying “I’m your granddaughter.”
6:45 p.m. A Glenwood Avenue caller said his car was parked on the street and got keyed.
7:01 p.m. A 22nd Street caller reported the neighbor was screaming out the back door that he was going to shoot her. He complains about her cats and she found one dead and told him to stop shooting them.
9:16 p.m. An Abiquiú caller said they can see flashlights on the mesa and wanted it checked out. The dispatcher told them the mesa isn’t their property and there’s no reason to believe it’s suspicious.
Gas-Whiffing Neighbor
May 10
6:22 a.m. A Cordova caller heard four gunshots.
6:49 a.m. An Española Pathways caller wanted a woman trespassed because she was calling employees names.
7:02 a.m. An Ohkay Bupingeh caller said a drunk man was outside her house, hitting her dog.
7:28 a.m. A caller reported a body was stolen and a casket was missing from the Ohkay Cemetery. The responding officer noted that the body was not taken but the mound was disturbed.
7:53 a.m. A Cañones caller said a snake bit him.
8:23 a.m. An officer that responded to the previous call about a snake bite said the man was not bitten, he just had a scratch, but he’s concerned the man has a psychiatric issues and requested an evaluation.
8:39 a.m. A caller wanted to file a report because he was assaulted last night. He claimed seven people threw him in the back of one of their trucks, drove him behind Walmart and beat and threatened him.
11:18 a.m. An Alcalde caller said her son got into a physical altercation with her husband.
12:10 p.m. A North Monterey Lane caller complained that her neighbors are playing really loud music and she can’t sleep.
1:26 p.m. A caller reported two SUVs are parked against the Ohkay Laundromat and have a rope tied between the vehicles on which someone hung clothes.
2:47 p.m. A Santa Clara caller said his ex-girlfriend sent him messages threatening to kill him.
3:36 p.m. A Simmons Lane caller reported the neighbor stole some of his gardening tools and he caught him in the yard before. He said the neighbor wasn’t drunk but regularly “whiffs gas.”
4:43 p.m. A Calle de Amor caller said squatters are living in trailers and she doesn’t want them there.
5:17 p.m. A Calle Azul caller reported the neighbor was shooting his gun.
5:59 p.m. A Calle Jose de la Cruz caller reported her grandfather was beating her grandmother.
6:42 p.m. A man was yelling at Lowe’s Home Improvement employees because his check was not going through; he was refusing to leave.
8:14 p.m. An overdose was reported at the Ohkay Travel Center. Narcan was administered.
8:55 p.m. A man on North Prince Drive was going through alcohol withdrawals.
Criminal Damage
May 11
9:03 a.m. A Hernandez caller reported the neighbor is putting things on her fence and it’s weighing the fence down.
9:39 a.m. A Dollar General in Hernandez caller wanted a woman trespassed because she makes a mess in the dumpster and is stealing crates.
11:56 a.m. A Century Bank caller requested an officer because they had a stolen check at the bank.
1:04 p.m. A West Calle Jose Pablo caller said his son is in the hospital and he had someone watching his dog, but they are refusing to give it back.
1:45 p.m. A woman went to EPD to report a camera was stolen from outside her house and she wanted to speak with an officer.
1:52 p.m. A woman said someone hit her car while she was shopping at Goodwill.
5:28 p.m. An Alcalde caller reported finding his stolen trailer on the side of the road.
7:08 p.m. A Lowe’s Home Improvement caller said a man hit him in the face.
7:33 p.m. A man went to EPD to report the driver of a truck brandished a gun at him on the Fairview bridge.
7:41 p.m. Two officers were out with two people at Goodwill who had drugs on them.
9:31 p.m. A Socorro’s Restaurant caller said the neighbors are doing work to the fence and he thinks it’s criminal damage.
10:13 p.m. A caller near Northern New Mexico College thinks she might have hit a pedestrian. The responding officer said the caller appeared to be on drugs and no one was hit.
11:30 p.m. A Santa Clara officer requested assistance in serving two warrants at Goodwill.
Getting Sauced
May 12
12:30 a.m. A woman was taken to the crisis center after her husband beat her and threatened to kill her.
2:37 a.m. A Vista del Rio Apartments caller said five people were outside and it appeared they were pointing a gun at one of the apartments.
2:57 a.m. A woman had a dog on the floor at the Ohkay Casino and was refusing to leave.
7:21 a.m. A Truchas caller reported her boyfriend hit her and was trying to leave.
8:30 a.m. A West Calle Jose Pablo caller thinks his son’s friend stole items from the house.
8:44 a.m. A Calle Vigil caller said her boyfriend took her keys and was vandalizing her house.
8:45 a.m. A cow was stuck in a cattle guard in Abiquiú and broke its leg.
10:51 a.m. A Walmart caller reported a man stole a bike and ran out the doors, headed toward Lowe’s.
12:03 p.m. A Chimayó caller said he’s withdrawing from alcohol and is immobile and relapsed a couple minutes ago and consumed 10 quarter pints.
1:15 p.m. A Little Caesar’s caller reported a man was throwing sauce packets at them.
1:44 p.m. A Bridge to Health caller said a group of homeless people are blocking their parking spots in front of the building.
4:20 p.m. A caller reported a man under the Goodwill sign threw something at their vehicle.
3:26 p.m. A report for assault was taken at Española Valley High School.
4:38 p.m. A Chimayó caller said he’s drunk and needs help. The responding deputy found the man unconscious and lying outside.
5:50 p.m. A State Road 76 caller reported her catalytic converter was stolen sometime last night.
6:18 p.m. A person found an ATM card in a machine in the Zia Credit Union drive-thru and wanted to hand it to an officer.
7:40 p.m. A caller said a man threw a rock at her windshield.
7:50 p.m. An overdose was reported on North Riverside Drive.
7:57 p.m. A caller said a man was lying on the sidewalk near the Park and Ride on Paseo de Oñate. The man said a car hit him, but witnesses said they did not see a vehicle involved.
10:48 p.m. A man was harassing customers at Fairview Sonic.
11:01 p.m. A driver was pulled over and arrested for DWI on Po Pay Avenue and Fish Pond Lane.
11:11 p.m. A Santa Clara Police officer called State Police about a non-tribal person at 420 Emporia who possibly was in possession of fentanyl.
Took a Wrong Turn in TA

3:40 a.m. A driver on Holy Cross Street said he fell asleep at the wheel and wrecked his vehicle.
8:17 a.m. A Murphy’s Express caller reported a woman was slumped over the wheel of a car.
8:43 a.m. An Esparza Lane caller got home and found a man trying to get into her house by opening a window.
9:05 a.m. A Hernandez caller said a shirtless man was trying to get into houses and fled toward the highway.
9:23 a.m. A Bridge to Health caller reported a man is yelling at people near the business and a group of homeless people are in the parking spaces, preventing people from parking.
9:38 a.m. A Camino Rafael caller said her brother-in-law said he’s going to the house to “deal with all of them” and may have a gun.
10:51 a.m. A Hernandez caller reported a person there is always stalking them.
10:55 a.m. A caller said they’re from Virginia and their GPS took them into a stream and they’re stuck in it. They were stuck in a stream in Tierra Amarilla.
12:23 p.m. Marijuana was found in a classroom at Coronado High School.
12:39 p.m. A caller said a woman with a rock was chasing a man and pushing him near Pizza 9.
1:05 p.m. A vehicle hit a house and wall near the Arbolera Community Center in Chimayó.
1:41 p.m. A man at Center Market was eating food and drinking beverages he didn’t pay for.
1:42 p.m. A woman said she has a broken leg and her boyfriend is hitting her and is going to leave her on the side of the road.
1:54 p.m. An El Rito caller reported his automatic gate was stolen last week.
2:10 p.m. A caller said two men in a truck were chasing another guy near the Ohkay Travel Center.
2:51 p.m. A La Mesilla caller reported his package with medicine and needles was stolen.
3:19 p.m. A vehicle rollover and fire was reported in front of La Cocina.
3:28 p.m. A North Riverside Drive caller said her house was broken into and her speakers were stolen.
4:48 p.m. A woman’s death was reported on Tortilla Flats.
5:33 p.m. A caller said he was picking up his son from Espinoza Lane and there were people at a nearby house, smoking drugs on the porch.
5:36 p.m. A man’s death was reported in Hernandez.
6:04 p.m. A Tierra Amarilla caller said a man threw a beer at her vehicle and left.
7:47 p.m. A Velarde caller reported the neighbor almost shot her son’s dog.
8:37 p.m. A Little Caesar’s caller said three juveniles were upset because they ran out of dough and were threatening the employees.
11:09 p.m. A Walmart caller reported a man that was just terminated began threatening employees.
