Zulema Esquipula Quintana

Zulema Esquipula Quintana, 97, Cuarteles, died Sunday, April 26, 2009.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Biterbo Quintana; parents: Abelino and Ramoncita Quintana; brothers: Ray and Dan Quintana; sisters: Esther Quintana, Sophie and Corine Garcia.

    Mrs. Quintana was a school teacher for 38 years. She taught at Chimayó, La Puebla, Cuarteles and Sombrillo Elementary Schools. She was married for 72 years and was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz, a member of the Holy Family Society as well as an Esclava de la Capilla de la Sangre de Cristo in Cuarteles.

    She is survived by her children: Jerry Quintana of the family home, Helen Martinez, Santa Cruz, Gilbert Quintana and David Quintana, both of Santa Fe; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

    A rosary was recited April 28 at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada.  Mass of Resurrection was celebrated April 29 at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Burial followed at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Santa Cruz with the following serving as pallbearers: Dennis C., Raymond, Michael, and Gil Quintana, Joseph Martinez and Roy Maestas.  In lieu of flowers, please make your donation to your favorite charity in her memory.
