One man is dead after a late night vehicle versus pedestrian crash on State Road 68.
Ernesto Ybarra, 42, was pronounced dead at the scene by the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator, New Mexico State Police Public Information Officer Wilson Silver said in response to an inquiry about the incident.
State Police officers responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash near milepost 3 in Rio Arriba County and found Ybarra. According to a call that was received by the Española/Rio Arriba E-911 Center, the incident was reported shortly after midnight, at 12:13 a.m.
“Initial investigation shows Ybarra was walking in the northbound lanes of travel on State Road 68 when a vehicle traveling northbound struck him,” Silver wrote.
The name of the driver was not released and no further information was available at press time.
The case remains under investigation by State Police.
