• ABIQUIU LAKE: Fishing was slow for all species. A few walleye were taken by anglers trolling bottom bouncer/night crawler rigs and deep running crank baits. Fishing pressure was very light.
• CHAMA RIVER: Monday morning water flows below El Vado and Abiquiú were 44 cubic feet per second and 72 cubic feet per second, respectively. Fishing below El Vado was fair using night crawlers, nymphs and salmon eggs for a mix of brown trout, rainbow trout and kokanee.
• COCHITI LAKE: Fishing was slow for all species. Fishing pressure was light.
• EAGLE NEST LAKE: Kokanee snagging slowed considerably this past week. Bank fishing was slow with a few trout taken on roe sacs, salmon eggs and spinners.
• EL VADO LAKE: Fishing was slow to fair using night crawlers and spinners for trout.
• FENTON LAKE: Trout fishing was slow.
• HERON LAKE: Trout fishing from the bank was fair-to-good using roe sacs, power bait and salmon eggs. There were no reports from boaters. It is prohibited to possess a kokanee until before Nov. 14.
• JEMEZ WATERS: Water flow on the Jemez as of Monday mornign was 24 cubic feet per second near Jemez Springs. Trout fishing on the Jemez, Rio Guadalupe, San Antonio and East Fork was fair-to-good using royal wulffs, copper john barrs, salmon eggs and worms.
• SAN JUAN RIVER: Water flow below Navajo Lake as of Monday morning was 496 cubic feet per second. Trout fishing was good for some but slow for others. Best flies in the Quality Waters were RS2, emergers, red annelids, chamois leeches and egg patterns. Fishing through the bait waters was fair using night crawlers, salmon eggs, streamers and jerk baits.
• SANTA CRUZ LAKE: Trout fishing was fair using salmon eggs, spinners, power bait and worms.
• STORRIE LAKE: Fishing was very good using salmon eggs and cheese for trout up to 15 inches. The best action again this past week was reported in the north campground area.
Catches of the Week
CHAMA RIVER: Ray Sisneros, of Cuba, caught a 20.5 in. brown trout. He was fishing below El Vado Lake and using a night crawler. Dale Johns, of Albuquerque, caught a 19.5 kokanee while fishing off the island below El Vado Lake. He was using a night crawler.
