VICENTE V. MARTINEZ

VICENTE V. MARTINEZ, 77, a lifelong resident of Chimayo, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 18, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ramoncita and Emiliano Martinez; brothers, Benny, Carmen and Eliseo Martinez; sisters, Cordelia Marquez and Anselma Pacheco; nephews, Ricky, Tony, Leroy, Ralph and Wilfred Martinez, David Lopez and Ruben Vigil; niece, Angie Martinez; sisters-in-law, Martha Martinez and Tila Vigil; brothers-in-law, Sotero Romero and Nash Marquez. Vicente was a very religious man and was El Hermano Mayor de la Morada de Nuestra Señora de Esquipula del Santuario. He proudly served his country in the Army. He was a hard worker, serving as a foreman for Lockwood Construction, a retiree from Local Union 16 and a laborer for McKee Construction where he worked with all his brothers. He was a loving and caring person and was always willing to offer a helping hand to all his family and friends. He adored all his family and friends and will be greatly missed. Mr. Martinez is survived by the mother of his children, Bernie Martinez; children, Lorraine Rodriguez and husband David, Lucille Armijo and husband Marvin, Susie and Travis Orr, Geraldine Martinez and husband Joseph, Sammy Martinez and wife Debbie and David Martinez and Eluvina Cordova; sister, Adelina Romero; brother, Ross Martinez and wife Rose; sister-in-law, Tillie Martinez; brother-in-law, Ruben Pacheco; grandchildren, Jacob, Jenny, Crystal and Amberley Martinez, Marvin Jr. and Linda Armijo, Amanda, Julián and David Jr. Martinez, Michael and Charlene Rodriguez and Austin Orr; great-grandchildren, Sean Valencia and Dominic Martinez and well as numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation was on Sunday, November 23, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, November 24, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Burial followed at the Potrero Catholic Cemetery in Chimayo with the following serving as pallbearers, Marvin Armijo Jr., Michael Rodriguez, Jacob, Benny and Phil Martinez and Jerry Romero. Honorary pallbearers named were all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Avaristo Romero, Peter Velarde, Videlio Martinez, Ted Trujillo, Dennis Chavez and Benny Armijo.
