ANTONIO MARIA “TONY” ROYBAL, 81, a resident of Fairview, passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2008 peacefully with his family by his side. Antonio was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Roybal; parents, Cresenciano and Guadalupe Roybal; sister, Rosella Ortiz; step-sons, Paul and Anthony Lorenzo; mother of his children, Mary Fedelina Roybal. Antonio was a Veteran of the US Armed Forces and retired from LANL. Mr. Roybal is survived by his children, Lourdes Nevarez of Fairview, David Roybal and wife Elizabeth of Jemez Springs and Bernadette Naranjo and husband Albert of Arroyo Seco; brothers and sisters, Medardo Roybal of Santa Fe, Teresita Tafoya, Eberto Roybal and Esther Vigil all of El Rancho and Sinfie Ortiz and husband Toby of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Robert and wife Terri, Max Antonio, Mario and Jovenne Nevarez, Kelly Clayton and Anthony Roybal, Matthew and Jennifer Naranjo; great-grandchildren, Brianna, Stefania, Bradley and Casey Nevarez; beloved pets, Gero and Blacky and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. Public visitation was Monday, November 17, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home with a rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada, with Burial following at 2:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, his grandsons, Matthew Naranjo, Anthony Roybal, Robert, Max Antonio and Mario Nevarez and his nephews, Samuel Giron and Kenneth Maes. Honorary pallbearers named are, Nick Martinez, Levi Sandoval and Gene Sandoval. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the National Endowment for Alzheimer’s Research.
