Edna L. Turner

    Edna L. Turner, 88, Española, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008.

    She was born May 12, 1920.

    Mrs. Turner and her late husband Claude Turner, who died in 1958, owned and operated Turners Café and Icehouse during the 1940s and ‘50s frying eggs and flipping hotcakes back when Española was a boomtown for the Los Alamos Labs.

    In her spare time, Mrs. Turner was a faithful parishioner at La Iglesia De La Santa Cruz Catholic Church and was a member of the church choir. She also sold Rawleigh products and had many loyal customers in  Española.

    Mrs. Turner is survived by her nephew Pedro “Pete” Quintana, Sister Juanita “Jane” Lopez, other relatives and many friends.

    A rosary was recited Dec. 14 in the Chapel of Block-Salazar Mortuary in Española. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Dec. 15 at La Iglesia De Santa Cruz De La Canada, with interment following  at Holy Cross Cemetery.
