Fishing Report for Week of Jan. 15

ABIQUIU LAKE: Fishing was slow for all species.

CHAMA RIVER: The water flows Monday morning below El Vado and Abiquiú dams were 183 cubic feet per second and 204 cubic feet per second, respectively. Fishing was slow and fishing pressure was very light due to heavy snow in the area.

HERON LAKE: Bank fishing near La Laja boat ramp was good using power bait and salmon eggs for rainbow trout up to 16 inches.

JEMEZ WATERS: The water flow on the Jemez River near Jemez Springs as of Monday morning was 22 cubic feet per second. Trout fishing on the lower Jemez was fair using salmon eggs and copper john bars.

NAVAJO LAKE: Fishing was slow for all species.

PECOS RIVER: Trout fishing was slow. There was considerable ice on the river above the town of Pecos. Fishing below the town was fair using salmon eggs.

RIO GRANDE: The water flow Monday morning at the Taos Junction Bridge was 464 cubic feet per second. Trout fishing was slow-to-fair using wooly buggers and small Kastmasters.

SAN JUAN RIVER: The water flow below Navajo Lake as of Monday morning was 504 cubic feet per second. Trout fishing through the Quality Waters was fair-to good using egg patterns, leeches, San Juan worms and large streamers. Fishing through the bait waters was fair using Kastmasters, salmon eggs, streamers and copper john bars.

CATCHES OF THE WEEK: Shawn Jones of Albuquerque caught and released a 24.5 inch rainbow trout. He was using a large streamer.
