ADONAISA “Addie” MARTINEZ, 82, a resident of Truchas, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents, Casimiro and Eduvigen Montoya; brothers, Senovio and Abel Montoya; sister, Florinda Romero; father and mother-in-law, Manuel and Rosarito Martinez. Adonaisa was an educator for the Española district for 38 years. She was a Seladora for the Holy Family Society and taught catechism for 50 years and remained very active in the church. Mrs. Martinez was very creative with her paintings, weavings, pottery and a very great cook. She graduated from St. Joseph’s College and obtained her Bachelors degree in education and was a positive influence to thousands of children she taught throughout her career. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her. Mrs. Martinez is survived by her husband of 53 years, Adrian Martinez of Truchas; sons, Bobby Martinez and wife Tina of Alamogordo, Tommy Martinez and companion Lola of Truchas and Bert Martinez of Truchas; brothers, Eustacio Montoya of Truchas, Gilbert Montoya and wife Lou of Chimayo and Eluid Montoya and wife Bernadine of Truchas; sister, Anita Lancaster and husband Dave of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister-in-law, Euphrosinia Montoya of Questa; grandchildren, Joseph Martinez of Truchas and Adrian Martinez of Alamogordo, Toni Gallegos of Alcalde, Roxanne Martinez and companion John Dickson of Las Vegas, Nevada, Andrea Martinez of Española, Erica Martin and husband Dominick of Colorado Springs, Renee Martinez and companion Anthony Montoya of Albuquerque, Dolores Martinez of Albuquerque, Lianne Martinez of Truchas, Addie Martinez of Alamogordo; great-grandchildren, D.J. Anaya of Colorado Springs, Kiana Dickson of Las Vegas, Nevada and Adam Montoya of Albuquerque; special caretaker, Margie Martinez and husband Danny of Truchas; close nephew, Randy Montoya of Las Vegas, Nevada and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation was Thursday, January 29, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. A second rosary was recited on Friday, January 30, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Truchas. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. also at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Truchas. Burial followed at the Martinez Family Cemetery in Truchas with the following serving as pallbearers, Andrea and Renee Martinez, Erica Martin, Dolores, Lianne and Roxanne Martinez, Randy Montoya and Joseph Martinez. Honorary pallbearers named were all her great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
