Jose Biterbo Quintana, 98, Cuarteles, died Tuesday, March 24, 2009 following a short illness. He was preceded in death by his parents: Casimiro and Maximiana Quintana; brothers, Tony H. and Jose Ignacio Quintana, and sister, Manuelita Lopez.
Mr. Quintana loved his farm, ranching and taking care of his animals.
He was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz, a member of the Holy Family Society as well as Esclavo de la Capilla de la Sangre de Cristo in Cuarteles.
Mr. Quintana is survived by his wife of more than 70 years, Zulema Quintana, of Cuarteles; children: Jerry Quintana of the family home, Helen Martinez, of McCurdy, Gilbert Quintana, and David Quintana, both of Santa Fe; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A rosary was recited March 25 at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Mass of Resurrection was celebrated March 26, also at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Burial followed at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Santa Cruz with the following serving as pallbearers, Dennis C., Raymond, Gil, Steven, Dennis Quintana and Joseph Martinez.
