Margaret Nelson,
87, of Espanola died peacefully Sunday, March 15, with her family near her side. She was preceded in death by her parents David and Matilde Martinez; husband Emory Nelson; and brother Gilberto Martinez. Mrs. Nelson was a life long parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church Parish and a member of the Scared Heart Alter Society. She retired from Los Alamos National Laboratory after 42 years. She was a hard working person and enjoyed tending to her garden and yard. She is survived by two sons David Nelson of Espanola and Henry Nelson and wife Jane of Arizona, 2 step-sons Jake Nelson and wife Beverly and Jerry Nelson and wife Eljean of Arizona, a step-daughter Cecilia Adkins and husband Bill of Albuquerque, grandson Angelo Gallegos of Albuquerque, great-grandsons Angel Gallegos and Josiah Gallegos of Albuquerque, sister Flora Salazar and husband Salomon of Espanola, sister-in-law Annette Eileen Martinez and many nephews, nieces and other relatives.  A public visitation was Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at Block-Salazar Mortuary. Recitation of the Rosary was held at 7:00 p.m. also on Tuesday evening at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and interment followed at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
