Lucita Romero, 79, Cordova, originally of Chimayó, died Sunday, March 8, 2009 following a short illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Candido and Sarita Romero and two brothers, Tony and Candelario.
Ms. Romero is survived by her sister, who was also her caregiver for 37 years, Gregorita Trujillo, Cordova; Elsie Amaya; brothers, Octavio and Avaristo Romero and many other nephews and nieces. Public visitation and rosary took place yesterday (3/11) in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today (3/12) at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo, burial will follow at the Cordova Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Sheila Vigil, Crystal, Erika and Meghan Martinez, Lucrecia Chavez, and Antonio Trujillo.
Honorary pallbearers are all her nieces, nephews and all her great-nieces and nephews.
