Española Police, Ohkay Owingeh Tribal Police, Rio Arriba County Department Sheriff’s deputies and State Police responded to the following calls:
Drunk Son Too Much
Monday, March 16
• 6:08 p.m. — A Wal-Mart employee said a female staffer was embezzling merchandise. Police took a report.
• 6:38 p.m. — An El Rito caller said she couldn’t deal with her drunk son.
• 7:09 p.m. — A caller said she went to retrieve her stuff from a Kiva Lane residence belonging to her ex-husband, and he was acting up and getting out of hand. Police wouldn’t let her take the stuff because she didn’t have a court order to do so.
• 9:26 p.m. — A caller said two men and a woman in a PT Cruiser in the Wal-Mart parking lot were asking for money. They couldn’t be found.
Violent OD Patient
Tuesday, March 17
• 9:06 a.m. — A Community Corrections employee said a man tested positive for alcohol and fled in a Ford Explorer. He couldn’t be found.
• 12:53 p.m. — A caller said a couple of guys with spiky hair were sitting on a car and asking for money in Wal-Mart’s parking lot. Police didn’t find any criminal activity.
• 3:06 p.m. — An Española Hospital employee said an overdose patient punched a window and then left. Police attempted to locate him.
• 4:40 p.m. — A China Kitchen employee said two customers left without paying for their meals. Since they were tribal members, the Ohkay Owingeh Police Department handled the case.
• 6:00 p.m. — A Triple S gas station employee said a man stumbling out of the store appeared to be drunk. He said the man then got in his truck and sat there with the door open, nodding off. Police got a sober driver to get the truck and the man.

Wednesday, March 18
• 2:50 a.m. — A Calle Redondo caller woke up and realized her car was gone. She said she believed her son took it. 911 dispatchers reported that State Police handled a car wreck involving her son and the caller’s car shortly before she called.
• 2:59 a.m. — A caller said a woman in the parking lot of Allsup’s gas station was asking people for money. She claimed she was pregnant and living in a car. She couldn’t be found.
• 5:42 p.m. — A caller said he was assaulted while stopping a cocaine deal at Club Lumina. He didn’t want medical attention, just wanted police to go after the alleged drug dealers.
Vulgar Roadblock
Thursday, March 19
• 9:35 a.m. — An East Shadowood Lane caller said a drunk woman visited him the previous day and stole his dog. Later, the suspect called, saying the dog had returned home.
• 5:18 p.m. — A caller said the driver of a Chevrolet pickup had been blocking County Road 63 and yelling vulgarities for 10 minutes.
• 8:05 p.m. — A caller said she shone her brights on someone she was driving behind on State Road 76 and he pulled a rifle on her. She didn’t want a report.
• 9:20 p.m. — A Sandy Lane caller said he wanted his friend removed because she became very irate, kicked his dog and yelled at some people. A woman could be heard in the background yelling, “Why don’t you tell them that you threatened to hit me too.” She was gone when police arrived.
• 11:38 p.m. — A Wendy’s employee said a large group of people kept asking for straws and bothering the staff. They were dispersed.
Interlock Stolen
Friday, March 20
• 8:57 a.m. — A Rio del Oso caller said she had two big bumps and an abscess and was trying to hitchhike to Santa Fe. She said she was freaked out because of “a lady that died today because she had a little bump on her head.” She was presumably talking about actress Natasha Richardson, who died March 18 after suffering a head injury while skiing. The caller said she was in pain all over and had been drinking and lying in the middle of the road for two hours yelling for help. She refused to have an ambulance pick her up and said she wanted 911 dispatchers to know they weren’t helpful.
• 10:54 a.m. — A Calle Culebra caller said her son left the house with the interlock device out of her car, which prevented her from driving to work. The call was transferred.
• 11:20 a.m. — A State Road 76 caller said someone cut her window screens and painted her door. No report was taken.
• 3:22 p.m. — A North Orchard Drive caller said a woman in her yard was asking her son for cigarettes and beer and claiming they owed her cigarettes. She left before police arrived.
• 4:47 p.m. — A Fairview strip mall business said a recently terminated employee was calling a current employee with death threats. They said the suspect had been fired for shredding documents. Police took a report for harassment.
Wipers Disappear
Saturday, March 21
• 12:41 p.m. — A Sandy Lane caller said her husband got mad at her and threw a trash can through a wall. Police took a report for criminal damage to property.
• 2:08 p.m. — A Cooks Trailer Court caller said a man wearing sunglasses was knocking on doors and getting mad because no one answered. He was detoxed.
• 2:27 p.m. — A Checkers Auto Parts employee said they locked someone in the restroom who had been trying to steal some windshield wipers. The suspect, a known shoplifter who also previously escaped from the Española Jail, was let out of the bathroom by police but no wipers were found.
• 2:42 p.m. — A Calle Espinoza caller said someone driving by her house threw a bottle at her window. Police took a report.
Grill Thieves Foiled
Sunday, March 22
• 8:57 a.m. — A Traveler’s Motel employee said some people broke in the previous night by getting in through the air conditioning duct. Police found nothing was taken or broken.
• 3:40 p.m. — A State Road 76 caller said she caught two men trying to take her barbecue grill. They left the grill and bolt cutters in the middle of the road. Police took a report.
• 6:57 p.m. — A caller said someone stole her couches from a storage shed in Alcalde. No report was taken.
